What I Got For Christmas 2017

Hi guys! Hope you had a great Christmas! I spent mine with family and friends and enjoyed every minute. I don't know about you but I love to snoop around and see what everyone got for Christmas each year, so I thought I would share with you some of the things that I was lucky enough to get during this month. I won't mention everything cause it might get quite boring but I will show you the main items I think you might be interested in! Disclaimer: I would like to start off by saying that I feel very blessed to able to receive gifts however small or big, cheap and expensive and I am in no way trying to brag!
  1. Although, as mentioned I love everything that I got, this has got to be my favourite. My mom knows that during these cold winter months as I'm preparing for my exams, I spend quite a lot of time at home lounging around in my PJs (keep in mind, I have very bad circulation!). So, she got me a robe featuring a giraffe print and I swear it's the most cosy thing I own. It's by the brand Boux Avenue and it is so soft and warm! I've already worn it so much - if you guys are interested, it is currently discounted on the website .
  2. Another item of clothing I am obsessed with currently is the blue faux suede biker jacket I got from River Island. It feautures a lot of front zip pockets, has a biker collar and again the fabric is so velvety soft.
  3. Lately, I was in dire need of a new purse, so when I saw this metallic purse from the brand I am, I was so happy! It is very beautiful and unique, which I obviously love.
  4. I am constantly trying out The Body Shop products, especially their 30ml fragrances. I have tried various different scents including vanilla and coconut (my favourite!) but as a Christmas present this year, I got one in the scent of strawberry. It smells delicious and the scents are always very long-lasting. They are quite affordable, light, refreshing and very wearable. I always get compliments when I'm wearing these.
So, what did you get for Christmas? Did you get something from your wishlist? Leave your comments down below! I would love to know ;)

Until next time,
Christine xxx

ALMOST FORGOT! HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS! Wish you the best!

P.S. This post is not sponsored and all products were gifted to me by family and friends. All opinions are my own.

Top 5 Christmas Beauty Stocking Fillers!

15/12/2017

The holiday season is upon us! If you're anything like me, you spend these days wondering what you should get your loved ones this Christmas. I thought I'd write this post to hopefully ease your pain in finding the perfect gift for a beauty lover, like myself, whether it is for Secret Santa, for stocking fillers or as simple gift ideas.  These are my top 5 picks!
  1. Mascara. There are millions of brands out there, and some pretty good ones too. One of my most used and repurchased is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. It is affordable, lengthening, holds a curl very well and lasts all day.
  2. Boomfbomb. This is not exactly a beauty-related gift but I had to mention it. If you're looking for a fun yet personalized gift, I would suggest checking out the boomf website. I just found this website recently through a friend's Instagram and was so impressed! One of my favourites is the Boomf Bomb - a card that jumps from its envelope in an explosion of confetti, a nice change from the conventional Christmas card, allowing for an element of surprise yet leaving you with a keepsake of your favourite memories with that person.  To understand what I'm saying just check out this video on YouTube. They have various other gift ideas too!
  3. Bath bomb/ bubble bar.  For my Secret Santa this year, I decided to be a bit extra and go for some of Lush's products. To be honest, Lush products are unfortunately not available locally for me, so indulging in such products feels like a treat. However, I had the pleasure of trying out some of Lush's products during my trip to Valencia last April, falling in love instantly. The smell in the shop drew me in completely, so since then, I've made quite a few online deliveries and I've never been disappointed. As a bonus, all of their products are fresh, handmade and 100% vegetarian. So, after that little rant, (haha, sorry!) some of my favourite products include The Comforter bubble bar (which is big enough for two baths! - yaas!), as well as the Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb which has a warm, spicy scent, making it the ultimate gift for a cold winter night.
  4. Eyeliner. You can never go wrong with an eyeliner! It's such a staple thing in every beauty lover's collection, and I never seem to have enough. A classic budget friendly option is the 3INA Pen Eyeliner - a marker pen-style eyeliner that makes defining the lash line simple, allowing you to create the perfect flick! It is quick drying and waterproof, making it just as good as my higher priced eyeliners.
  5. Body Butter. To add a luxurious feel to your stocking, throw in a body butter. My favourite is The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter - a velvety soft moisturizer which gives an instant all-over healthy looking glow, perfect for normal to dry skin. It leaves no residue after being absorbed, yet it hydrates the skin and leaves a soft rose scent which lasts all day.

So, what is on YOUR Christmas wishlist? I'd love to know so make sure to leave your comments down below!

Until next time,
Christine xxx

Will I Repurchase? : The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops (Lightening)

9/12/2017

With the imminence of a new year, I've felt inspired to get back into blogging.  It's been more than a year since I've posted my last blog (I apologize!) so I thought what better way to come back than to start a series of Will I Repurchase? blog posts. I always find these super helpful myself so firstly I will start off with The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops.

I bought my first bottle of the lightening one about 2/3 months ago and since then I have used it quite a lot, so much so, that I've almost run out. If that tells you anything, it's that this little glass bottle can honestly be a life saver. Because of the lack of various known brands locally, I find myself buying foundations online quite often and although Foundation Matrix can be a great help in choosing the right shade, it's not always 100% right. More often than not, I end up with a foundation about one or two shades darker than my perfect shade. And, let's be honest I'd rather not look like an Oompa Loompa! Because of this, I either used to give away these perfectly new foundations to some of my family members or else just hoped that I would get a nice glowing tan in the summer and just use them then.

However, with these shade adjusting drops, I no longer have this problem.  I usually just use one or two drops and it works perfectly. Obviously, you can add as much as you like until you get your desired colour. I've used it with quite a few different foundations and I have so far not noticed any difference in terms of longevity, texture, consistency or how it feels or appears on my skin. The bottle contains 15ml (0.5 US FL OZ) and it comes with a pipette (which honestly isn't always the best!)

Hopefully, from the pictures I've put up, you can see just how amazing this product can actually be and the difference that one drop can make. Overall, I really like it. Will I repurchase? Definitely! In fact, I've already bought a backup :)

Have you tried this product? What are your opinions on it? Would love to know in the comments!

Until next time,
Christine xxx

Summer Must Haves

10/6/2016

Summer is just around the corner (FINALLY!) and I honestly can't wait. After the last couple of weeks spent at home studying for my university exams, there's nothing I'm craving more than a good day at the beach with a cocktail in my hand! So, today I thought I would let you in on some of my personal must haves for this time of the year. Adore Me have approached me and asked me to join in on their #BeachDayMusts project to hopefully give you some inspiration for the upcoming beach season.

First of all, I can't mention beach must haves, without mentioning bikinis. Personally, this is one of the things I struggle with the most when preparing for summer. Being a bit heavy-busted, it's not always the easiest thing to manage to find a bikini which sits in all the right places and doesn't reveal too much. BUT, after a lot of roaming around I managed to find the perfect one! With swimwear, my style tends to be very classy and simple so I decided to go with the black two-piece as shown in the picture above. It includes an underwired twist bandeau style top and tie-side bikini bottoms. I think it's going to look really nice with a tan! If you're still looking for yours, I would suggest heading over to Adore Me's Instagram  for more inspiration and check out their site for a wide variety of pieces ranging from  petite to plus sizes.

The next must have is sunscreen! Everyone knows how damaging the sun can be so as much as possible, I always try to protect against it. For my face my go to product is the Vichy Ideal Soleil Face BB Tinted Velvety Cream SPF50. This is a tinted water resistant sunscreen product which is perfect for enhancing and evening out my skin tone. For the rest of the body then I use the Vichy Ideal Soleil Invisible Hydrating Mist SPF50, a hydrating spray  which dries in seconds, leaving an invisible finish on the skin.

If like me, you are a bit of a makeup fanatic and would like to use a little extra something on your face to make you look more awake, I would definitely suggest investing in a good waterproof mascara. Currently I'm trying out the Max Factor Masterpiece Waterproof Mascara
and I'm loving it! It separates and gives great definition to my lashes. If you want to take a step further and use eyeliner as well,  Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner is still my favourite by far. This will stay put on for hours and it's so easy to use with its thin marker-like tip.

Sunglasses are another big requirement for me. I usually just chuck a pair in my bag and get out the door (got the ones shown in the picture from Polaroid about a month ago.) And of course, my phone battery extender to boost my phone's battery life when I'm not home. You never know when an Instagram worthy photo might me needed!

That's it! What are some of your must-have items for the summer? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
Christine xxx

My Daily Makeup Routine

Some people might think that wearing makeup everyday is too much, and I can understand that to a degree. Personally, I think you should do whatever makes you happy and more confident and if that means putting on some concealer and mascara, I say go for it! Talking about myself, I like to put on makeup only if I'm going somewhere where I think it'd be nice to look a bit more put together, so when I'm at home I don't bother doing anything. But to each, their own!

If I do feel like making an effort for everyday use, I tend to put a pump of the Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer on my hand and then spread that across my face using my fingers. After that, I reach for my beloved MaxFactor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation. I've been using this foundation for more than a year now and it's definitely the best drugstore foundation that I have come across so far. So much so, that I own this in two shades: Golden and Bronze, depending on the season. Then I love to take my Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer and apply that right underneath my eyes, as well as on the bridge of my nose to highlight and give a bit more dimension to my face.

To make sure that my face is set and it will HOPEFULLY stay on all day, I like to set it using the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. I then apply a tiny bit of bronzer to add some warmth to my face. I'm currently loving the Bourjouis Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder, for a more subtle and natural look.  To finish off my face, if I have the time, I might even use my MAC blush in Margin, a peach toned blush with very subtle golden shimmer which gives you a very natural glow.

I usually never have time to put anything on my eyes except for mascara (at the moment I'm using L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara), but when I do, I like to use one of the Maybelline New York Color Tattoo 24hr Gel Cream Eyeshadows as they're so easy and quick to apply with your fingers. I then take a blending brush and just blend the edges. My most used ones are On and On Bronze and Pink Gold. To finish off, I put on NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake on my lips and I run out the door!

That's it! What about you? Do you wear makeup everyday? And if you do, what are some of your mostly used products? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
Christine

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

10/4/2016

First of all, I apologize for not posting last week but I needed some time off for myself and to spend with family during the Easter break. But, today to make up for that, I thought I could talk to you about the latest eyeshadow palette to join my collection (as if I need anymore!) I do think I'm quite late with this one as I believe it was first released back in November of 2015, but I still thought I would share my opinion about it so far, just in case you're still interested in getting it.

Gwen Stefani collaborated with Urban Decay on this palette to design one that would have all of her must-have shadows. To be honest with you, when I first heard about this, I imagined that this would include a lot of vibrant colourful shadows which I'm too scared to experiment with. However, to my delight I saw that most of the shades were neutrals (definitely up my street!). I love all my Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes, in fact they're among my favourites! So, when I ordered this one from FeelUnique I hoped that it would not disappoint. And, it definitely didn't!

The shades include:
  • Blonde (pale beige w/pink iridescent shift),
  • Bathwater (pale beige w/gold pearl),
  • Skimp (pale nude satin),
  • Steady (medium rose w/metallic gold shift),
  • Punk (reddish brown matte),
  • Baby (cool metallic rose),
  • Anaheim (light taupe-brown matte),
  • Stark (nude-pink matte),
  • Zone (medium brown matte),
  • Serious (smoky gray w/iridescent floating pearl),
  • Pop (pale coral w/iridescent sparkle),
  • Harajuku (metallic blue-pink w/iridescent micro-shimmer),
  • Danger (deep metallic royal blue w/blue micro-sparkle),
  • 1987 (bright metallic yellow-gold) and
  • Blackout (blackest black matte).
Picture
Personally, I love the choice of matte and shimmery neutrals (obviously!) but surprisingly I also love the two colourful shades (Danger and 1987) as they have urged me to experiment slightly more with vibrant colours. I have tried both on my lower lash line and they've added such a nice little touch of edge to my looks. The shades are all insanely pigmented, very soft and blendable and the amount of different looks that you can create with this is unbelievable. The detail on the packaging is also so beautiful and well thought out!

This has become one of my all time favourite eyeshadow palettes! It's great for everyday, yet it can still be used for more smokey looks for a good night out! Would I recommend it? Definitely! If I had to recommend only one palette from Urban Decay, it would probably be this one! I think that it is worth the money (and also the hype).

Until next time,
Christine xx

Kylie Lip Kit by Kylie Jenner : Posie K - Review & Swatches

24/3/2016

Picture
There has been a lot of hype recently about Kylie Cosmetics! If you don't know what I'm talking about (where have you been?!), it's Kylie Jenner's company which is taking the world by storm. I managed to order mine on her website on the 7th of March and believe me it wasn't the easiest thing to do. Knowing that hundreds of her fans would be refreshing her page like crazy when they launched gave me anxiety but somehow with trembling fingers I quickly put in my details and managed to get my hands on Posie K, the shade I had been wanting the most. At one point, I thought of refreshing the page myself because the processing took a while and I thought I had lost my chance but thank God I didn't because apparently anyone who did that was notified that the product was out of stock, missing their chances by just seconds.

Anyway, enough with the chit chat! Let's get to the actual product! So.... when you order a Lip Kit, you will get a matte liquid lipstick as well as a pencil lip liner. One retails for $29 USD, making the price quite reasonable in my opinion, considering you're getting 2 products. First things first, I loove the packaging! I had seen so many pictures on Instagram and Twitter that I knew what to expect, but I still loved it ... very sleek and neat.

Posie K is described as a dusty, mauve pink. The colour is absolutely stunning and I think that it would suit a wide variety of skin tones. It would also look good with pretty much every eye look imaginable, even though I do prefer to match it with a cooler-toned look personally. It would also look pretty. The lip liner has the best formula I've probably ever tried, it glided so smoothly on my lips and it was in no way drying. I would probably even consider wearing it on its own.

As for the liquid lipstick, initially the high pigmentation and comfortable feeling really won me over. When I first swatched it on my hand, I tried washing my hands three times and it still wasn't going anywhere. I had to use an oil based makeup remover which I guess really says something about its lasting power. The product dries to a matte finish in a matter of seconds. I tried it out for a full day to test it out and for the first 2 hours I was completely in love with it. However as more hours went by, it did get more drying, sucking the moisture out of my lips and making every last crack ever so visible. I do have VERY dry lips though so I guess that could have something to do with it. Since the lasting power is so good, I tried putting a lip balm directly over it and that seemed to help loads, making my lips look much better. Also, if you like vanilla scents you will love this! I'm a sucker for a good scented product.

Overall, I'm still super satisfied with my purchase and definitely think it's worth the price. Are they worth the hype? Definitely! The pigmentation and the staying power were enough to convince me. As for the dryness, I haven't yet found a matte liquid lipstick which didn't end up drying my lips by the end of the day, so make sure you're equipped with lip balm and you're good to go! Also, don't try getting these off ebay - they are sold at ridiculously high prices (so not worth it.) I would suggest just keeping your eyes out for a restock as they ship worldwide.

So, have you tried any Kylie Lip kits? What do you think of them? If not, are you interested in any of the shades?

Until next time,
Christine xxx

My Most Used Makeup Brushes

14/3/2016

When I first started experimenting with makeup, the only tools I used to apply it with were my fingers. But, I believe I've come a long way since then and although I've accumulated quite a few different brushes over the years, I always seem to gravitate towards some particular ones. I do think, that even if you have the world's best makeup products, you will not achieve good results unless you have the right tools. That being said, I don't think that you need to invest hundred of dollars to get some good quality brushes. Nowadays, at the drugstore you can easily come across brushes which are of the same quality as higher ended brands, if not better! So, today I thought I would share my absolute must-have brushes and the ones I use the most.

Face brushes
Foundation
- Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge - OK, so I know that this is not technically a brush but I couldn't neglect it. Since I've discovered this, I haven't looked back and if you have followed my previous blog posts, you would have noticed that I have mentioned it a few times. I can't really compare it with the BeautyBlender as I have yet to try the latter, however I do believe that it gives a very flawless-looking streak-free finish. I love its shape! The flat edge makes the application so easy and the pointed end is great for getting right under the eyes (especially when applying concealer). Make sure to always use it when it's damp and be aware that it might soak up some foundation. I own 3 of these and I'm constantly wanting to buy more!

Powder - Real Techniques Powder Brush - Again, Real Techniques have really nailed it on the head with this brush. It is very dense, soft and fluffy. I love it for both pressed and loose powders. Some people may argue that it is slightly too big however I think that because of this feature, it makes it less likely to pack on a lot of product and therefore end up with cakiness all over your face. It distributes the product very evenly and it blends beautifully. Apart from powder, it's also great with bronzer to give a bit more warmth to the face.

Contour - Real Techniques Sculpting Brush - By now, I think you've realized that I love RealTechniques brushes as they are such good quality for a very affordable price. I've tried quite a few different brushes for contouring but this one makes it super easy. It has a very flat, wide head which is great when wanting to further add definition or depth to your face.

Blush - You guessed it! - Real Techniques Blush Brush (haha!) - This has got a very tapered cut while still being very soft and dense which makes it ideal for giving you control over the amount of blush you want to apply to your cheeks. It gives a very airbrushed finish as it blends amazingly well. You can also use this to highlight or else to bronze up the face, however personally I like to keep it specifically for blush.

Eye brushes
All-over the lid brush - Sigma E54 Brush Medium Sweeper - This has a very dense wide head which makes it ideal for controlled lid application. The bristles are very soft which is a must for the delicate eye area. When I don't feel that I achieved the required intensity of a shadow, I find it best to apply with my fingers (more specifically, my index finger). Sometimes this provides you with a much better pigmentation result.

Blending brush - Sigma E25 Brush - I own 3 of these! No wonder this is one of Sigma's top seller products. My preferred use for this is for the application of transition shades in the crease, to buff out any harsh lines in the crease to make the look look further blended or else to further build up colour in the crease. It is basically a very good dupe for MAC's 217 brush which I use for basically the same reasons. I actually prefer the Sigma E25 brush over the MAC one in terms of durability.

Sigma E40 - This is another favourite. It is very soft and fluffy and I mostly make use of it by sweeping it back and forth through the crease for a very diffused look. This is a great brush for beginners and experts alike and I would recommend this to anyone who is on the hunt for a good quality eyeshadow blending brush.

Sigma E45 - I almost forget to mention this one (oops!) yet its still a must have in my collection. It's quite small and tapered with a pointed tip, making it absolutely perfect for application of more intense colours in the crease as it gives a lot of control in regards to product placement.

Have you ever tried any of these brushes? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
Christine

I guess you're going to get two posts today from me as the sweet Jacqueline Gikow from Audacious-Aging.NYC® nominated my blog Beauty In Your Eyes for a Liebster Award. I would really like to thank her for her nomination! I'm so thankful for all that I have achieved with this blog, all the support that my readers have given me throughout this past year. I honestly never expected so much love from the blogging community.

So, what is the Liebster Award?
It’s an award given to new and up and coming bloggers with small followings (generally less than 200). It helps new bloggers connect with each other, and find each other. In German, Liebster means Dearest or loving! It honestly means so much to me to even be recognized by other bloggers.

The rules for the Liebster Award are:
  1. You have to mention and thank the blog that nominated you in a blog post.
  2. You then have to answer the questions which were asked by the blog that nominated you.
  3. Then it's your turn to nominate 11 other new bloggers.
  4. You lastly have to set 11 new questions for your nominees to answer.

I will now answer the questions which were asked by Jacqueline Gikow of Audacious-Aging.NYC®:

1. What do you splurge on?
Well, I think this one is pretty obvious! Makeup!

2. What gives you joy?
Seeing my closest family and friends happy.

3. What is the country that you live in?
Malta - small island just under Sicily.

4. What is your creative outlet?
I guess it's my blog!

5. What is your hobby?
Testing out new beauty products.

6. What is your favorite color?
Blue.

7. What is your least favorite food?
Soup.

8. What is your favorite song today?
Lukas Graham - 7 years.

9. What movie could you watch over and over?
 The Theory of Everything.

10. What topic are you passionate about?
Beauty. My passion for it resulted in this blog!

11. Do you write your blog for fun or business?
Definitely for fun!
